Moonlight Residence — Art Nouveau Heritage Reimagined for Contemporary Living

A refined dialogue between Budapest’s architectural heritage and contemporary design Moonlight Residence by Aēform is an exceptional designer home created through a comprehensive transformation of a heritage apartment, where original Art Nouveau character meets sophisticated contemporary living. Conceived with great respect for the architectural identity of the building, the residence preserves the proportions, craftsmanship and atmosphere of the original home while introducing a distinctly modern sense of comfort, functionality and understated luxury. Natural light plays a defining role throughout the interior. Generous windows allow sunlight to flow across the living spaces, while a carefully curated palette of ochre yellow, olive green and warm gold tones creates an elegant visual identity inspired by the historic surroundings and the nearby Treasury Building. At the heart of the residence lies an expansive open-plan living area designed as both a sophisticated entertaining space and a welcoming everyday retreat. The interconnected living, dining and kitchen areas encourage effortless movement and social interaction, while maintaining a sense of intimacy and refinement. The living space opens toward a beautiful terrace framed by mature plane trees, creating a rare connection between the interior and the greenery outside. Filtered daylight, leafy views and the surrounding historic architecture give the residence an atmosphere that feels simultaneously urban and serene. The bespoke kitchen forms one of the home's most striking visual compositions. Marble countertops, olive-green tiles and a distinctive terrazzo feature wall combine natural textures with contemporary detailing, resulting in a space that is both highly functional and visually sophisticated. Throughout the residence, carefully considered storage solutions maintain the purity and calmness of the interiors. Every element has been designed to enhance the feeling of space while allowing the original architectural features to remain central to the experience of the home. A particularly elegant detail is the glass-and-iron door of the office, which allows natural light to penetrate the workspace while creating a subtle visual connection with the entrance hall. Views toward the Treasury Building and Budapest cityscape further reinforce the property's unique sense of place. Moonlight Residence is ultimately a celebration of craftsmanship and thoughtful design—a home that pays homage to its Art Nouveau heritage without attempting to replicate the past. Instead, historic character and contemporary architecture exist in effortless harmony. The result is a warm, luminous and highly individual residence offering an exceptional rental opportunity for those seeking design, architectural character and sophisticated city living in the heart of Budapest.
